The changing Honolulu skline. Despite the dreadful weather, construction
continues apace on 46-story twin towers of the Moana Pacific (left), while the recently completed Hokua (right) looms 40 stories over Kakaako. Over a dozen condominium towers are planned for the area, reminding many of the '80s when we said the construction crane was the state bird. |

In a short flashback scene for the character Locke in next week's episode
of "Lost," this dorky guy served as Orange County Pedestrian #17 outside the fictional Southland Savings Bank (a.k.a. the old City Bank space at the corner of Alakea and Merchant streets). If the scene makes the final cut, watch for him... among the other unrecognizable blurry smudges in the background. |
